Lets get ready for Continental Cup Day Two
The first day of the Continental Cup in Ostrava is behind us, the second day is just about its beginning. Well, talking about the athletic conditions, the weather in Ostrava is great, the temperature is already attacking 20°C, so we can look forward to the perfect athletic performance. Fans of throws will see the last four events on the field, which is going to be men’s hammer and javelin throw, women’s javelin and shot put.
It’s hard to predict what the final results will be, but we can do one at least funny thing. Let’s put down some bets and see who can beat the season leader or the guy with the best personal best. In men’s hammer throw, the leader #1 is definitely Wojciech Nowicki, the European champion from this year. But, does he stand really firmly in his shoes? As we could see yesterday, European champ in women’s hammer Anita Wlodarczyk was beaten by less experienced DeAnnna Price from the US. Is the same case going to happen today?
Ostrava has always seen perfect javelin performances since Jan Zelezny has been all the time number one here. Golden Spike was not different and battles between throwers were fantastic here many times. What can we look forward to today? Thomas RÖHLER, the leading man of this season with his 91.78 will definitely want to beat his rival from the European team - Jakub Vadlejch. Nevertheless, Vadlejch is competing on his home soil, what’s more in a traditional Czech event and he doesn’t definitely want to let his ambitions go without the tough fight. Keep your eye on these two guys and see who will take the European team into the final round. Actually, the same case is going to happen in the women’s part of this event. Young Czech thrower Nikola Ogrodnikova will be facing her rival and champion from the ECH Berlin 2018 Christin Hussong. One has to beat each other and go through the qualification rounds.
Athletes are looking forward to day two
